Significant Contributor to DPS Athletics

Rients was a dedicated math teacher for DPS for thirty three years, started at Eisenhower in 1984 later transferring to MacArthur in 2003 . Oftentimes Ray could be found supporting students outside the classroom as a game official for boys and girls sports. He was often found in the press box running the game clock for football or on the sidelines for basketball, including serving many years at our local holiday Turkey Tournament. Ray was respected by many and passed away soon after retiring from teaching in 2017. While sitting at the scorers table for basketball, Ray supplied many coaches, athletes and fellow officials with breath mints… tagging him the nickname Ray “Mints.” Today we honor Ray as a Significant Contributor to Athletics.
