Head Football Coach
MacArthur High School
1957 - 1974
Inducted February 2018

Bob Matheson was more than MacArthur's first football head coach and for whom the football field at MacArthur High School is named after. In his 17 years roaming the sidelines from the time school opened in 1957 until his retirement, Matheson's Generals won 73 games, lost 70 and played to eight ties. But more than that, Matheson worked summers for the late Jerry Menz at the Decatur Park District's Recreation Department where he created tee-ball for the youth of Decatur. Bob helped with the tee-ball program and created a youth umpiring program in Decatur.
