David often heard “Rock Chalk Jayhawk” during his days triple jumping for the Kansas Jayhawks. David won the triple jump state title in back-to- back years in 1983 and 1984. His 1983 title was Decatur’s first since 1937. While in Kansas, David earned All-American accolades where this MacArthur General still holds several Kansas triple jump records!
