MacArthur’s class of 1979 Penny Hammel won two state golf titles and a fourth place finish during her shining golf career at MacArthur. Before swinging the club at college at the University of Miami, she was hailed a top junior golfer in the country clinching four junior tournament titles. In 1983 during her senior year at Miami, Penny was selected by Golf Week Magazine as Women’s Collegiate Amateur Player of the Year. She joined the LPGA Tour, and was named Rookie of the Year in 1985. She has three LPGA victories to her credit.
