One of the most successful women’s tennis player’s in Decatur history. Martha is a 1967 MacArthur graduate. She was more successful as an adult player and why we are honoring her today. Martha played tennis for Stanford University before Title IX (nine) was around.
Martha played in tennis tournaments as an adult in Northern California where she started her career as a certified Tennis Director. At age 35 she became a senior tennis player where she earned 40 national titles and represented the USA on 9 international senior tennis teams. Martha achieved a #1 world ranking in the 60 and over division and is a two time Hall of Famer: Sacramento Area Tennis Hall of Fame, and the Northern California Tennis Hall of Fame.
