Stephanie Spurlock was a standout softball pitcher in both high school and college. As a student athlete her junior year, Stephanie had a 1.53 earned run average and pitched (3) one-hitter games and a no-hitter game. Illustrating her strength, she pitched in every Stephen Decatur game in 1988, leading the Reds to a 19-7 record while she had a .388 batting average. At the University of Evansville in Indiana, she received Evansville’s Female Athlete of the Year award in 1991. In addition to pitching, Stephanie also could be found behind the plate in the catcher position.
