Stephen Decatur’s Mark Malley, class of 1969, earned his selection for his grappling ability on the wrestling mats where Mark won two back-to-back IHSA state championships in 1968 and 1969. Mark was named “most valuable” in the Big 12 Conference his last two years at Stephen Decatur. Mark was awarded the Most Outstanding Performer in his division at the second annual U.S. Junior Olympics Wrestling Championships. Mark’s four year varsity record was 90 wins and 5 losses. All five losses came in his freshman and sophomore years. Additionally, Mark had numerous AAU wrestling tournament championship titles and added to that is a National High School Champion Most Outstanding Wrestler award. .
