Our first Hall of Fame athlete is Antonio Austin. Tony graduated from Stephen Decatur High School where he played football for the Runnin’ Reds from 1993-97. Tony broke records when he rushed for more than 2,800 yards in a season, had 36 solo tackles, 54 assists and 4 sacks during his sophomore year. He was named Macon County Player of the year in 1996. Tony played three years for MacMurry College in Jacksonville, IL and was a member of the Decatur’s Bears team in 2002. Regrettably, Tony passed away in 2006. In his honor, the Decatur JFL renamed Firestone Field to the “Tony Austin Memorial Complex.”
